As we get older, our bodies tend to slow down in many departments, including hair growth. While this may be great in some ways, it isn't always in others.
Slower hair growth cycles
As we get older our hair follicles become less active. This means it takes individual hairs longer to grow back, and our eyebrow hair spends less time in the growth phase. The Anagen phase, or growth phase, is when hair grows thicker and longer due to cells dividing rapidly.
As we get older our hair cycle slows, meaning the fullness and length of the hair will be less when it grows back through.
Hormonal changes
Another factor in thinning brows is hormonal changes, particularly around and after the menopause. Changes in progesterone, oestrogen and other hormones can shorten the rate of hair growth. This eventually leads to the hair thinning and becoming weaker.
Hair removal
Hair removal is a big cause for many women. Repeated treatments of threading and waxing can damage the hair follicles over time. Over-plucking can also lead to long-term damage. As time goes on, certain hair follicles will stop producing hair as a result of this.

Age-related changes
Age brings a decline in the skin's elasticity and collagen production. When the skin weakens, your hair follicles lose their support system, which is vital for active hair growth. When elastin and collagen decline, the hair follicle starts to lose its firm, tight structure, causing the hair to naturally shed.

Dehydration of the scalp
Dehydration is also a common known factor in thinning hair. When the scalp becomes dry, over time it creates brittle hair that's prone to breaking easily, before it reaches its full length.
